Your data

Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-26 · Updated 2026-09-30 · Applies to the WannaHelp app

This policy covers the WannaHelp app. The policy for the Ion Hands marketing website at ionhands.com is separate and does not apply here. The standalone WannaHelp privacy policy says the same things in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Who we are

WannaHelp is built and maintained by Ion Hands LLC (Consumer Labs), a company registered in the United States. When you use WannaHelp, Ion Hands LLC is the controller of the personal information described below.

What we collect

Almost everything WannaHelp holds is something you put there on purpose. There is no advertising network in the app, no third-party tracker, and nothing you save is used to profile you or sold to anybody.

  • Your account. Your email address. There is no password: we email you a one-time code when you sign in.
  • What you save. Notes, memories, photographs, documents, videos, voice notes, calendar entries, recipes, trips and walks, comments, and the answers you give when the app asks you questions.
  • Photo information. If you leave the Read photo info on upload setting on, we read the date and location your camera wrote into a photo, so you can find photos by when and where they were taken. You can turn that off at any time in Settings.
  • Location. Only if you allow it, and only for the features that need it, such as weather where you are or naming the place of a trip. The app remembers your last known position on your device so it does not ask again every time.
  • Voice. When you record a voice note or speak to the app, the audio is sent to a speech provider to be turned into text so you can read and search it.
  • Email you forward. If you turn on email forwarding, messages you send to your WannaHelp address are read to pull out appointments and details, and to warn you about scams.
  • Conversations with the assistant. What you type or say to the in-app assistant, and its replies.
  • Your device. A random identifier for the device, its broad type (phone, tablet, computer) and browser, and a push-notification subscription if you switch notifications on.
  • How the app is used. Counts of things like "opened the calendar" or "saved a note". This is deliberately content-free: it records that something happened, never what it was about. It is stored against a pseudonym derived from your account identifier with a secret key, not against your identity.
  • Payment. If you subscribe, a payment processor handles the card. We never see or store your card number. We keep the state of your subscription and the identifiers we are given. To calculate sales tax, the payment processor also collects your billing address and, where tax rules require it, a shipping address; it keeps them with your payment details.
  • Support. Anything you write to us, and our replies.

Why we process it

To run the features you asked for; to answer you when you write to us; to sign you in and keep your account secure; to bill a subscription you chose; to keep the app available and protect it from abuse; and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are the performance of our contract with you, your consent for things you choose to turn on (such as location and email forwarding), our legitimate interests in operating and securing the app, and compliance with law.

AI features. Some features work by sending what you saved, or what you asked, to an AI model so it can read a document, answer in chat, or break an answer into facts. That happens only for the feature you invoked, and the model providers we use do not train their models on it.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Who else sees it

Service providers. Only the providers we need to run the app, each under contract, and each seeing only the part of your data its job requires: hosting, storage, databases, sign-in and sending email; the AI models that read documents, answer in chat and turn your answers into facts; turning voice into text; reading text aloud; taking payment for a subscription; turning coordinates into a place name, called from our servers and never your device; weather forecasts; map backgrounds; the typeface the app is set in; and bot protection on the public support form.

People you choose. Sharing a photo, an appointment, a trip or a circle shows it to the people you shared it with, and it stays shown until you stop sharing it. A calendar subscription link you create lets any calendar app holding that link read the appointments it covers, so treat it like a key.

When the law requires it. Beyond that, we disclose information only where the law compels us, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

WhatHow long
What you savedUntil you delete it. Deleting your account deletes it all.
Recently Deleted30 days, then permanently removed.
The original of an email you forwarded30 days, then permanently removed. The readable text stays on the entry it created.
Usage counts90 days.
Notification records90 days.
Email suppression listKept indefinitely, and only for addresses that bounced or reported us as spam, so we stop writing to them.
Administrative audit log7 years, tamper-evident.
Record that an erasure happenedKept, with your identifiers stored only as a one-way hash.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app. You are asked to type a confirmation phrase, click a link we email you, and enter a one-time code, so that nobody can delete your account but you, including any automated assistant acting on your behalf.

  • Standard, 7 days. Your subscription stops renewing immediately. For 7 days you can cancel the deletion from any email or notification we send you, or from inside the app. After that your account and your data are erased.
  • Erase now, about 30 minutes. The same confirmation steps, with a much shorter window to change your mind.

Things you shared with other people stop appearing for them the next time their device connects. A copy a recipient saved for offline viewing expires within 72 hours, even if their device never reconnects.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent you previously gave. If you are in California you also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The delete right is built into the app; for anything else, write to us and we will answer within the period the applicable law allows. We may need to verify your identity first, which we will do using information we already hold. We do not charge for this.

Security

Traffic to and from the app travels over TLS, and data is encrypted at rest. Access to what we store is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise; if a breach affects you and the law requires us to tell you, we will.

International transfers

Our systems run in the United States, and our providers process data there. If you use WannaHelp from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States under the safeguards our providers' terms establish.

Children

WannaHelp is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from a child. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect, and the version and date at the top of this page will change with it.

The agreement

Terms of Service

Effective 2026-09-26 · Updated 2026-09-30 · Applies to the WannaHelp app

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Ion Hands LLC (Consumer Labs), which builds and maintains WannaHelp. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

What these terms cover

These terms govern the WannaHelp app and the services it connects to: your account, what you save, sharing, email forwarding, the assistant, and any subscription you buy. They do not govern the Ion Hands marketing website at ionhands.com, or consulting work, each of which has its own terms. The Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy on this page are part of these terms.

Your account

You must be at least 18 to use WannaHelp. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, so the security of your account depends on the security of your email and of the devices you stay signed in on. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you save in WannaHelp. You give us permission to store it, copy it between our systems, process it (including with the service providers and AI models described in the Privacy Policy) and show it to you and to the people you choose to share it with, only so far as needed to run the app for you. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the limited retention described in the Privacy Policy.

Only save, forward or share material you have the right to. When you share something, the people you share it with can see it, and may keep a copy for up to 72 hours for offline viewing after you stop sharing.

The assistant and AI features

Some features use AI models to read documents, answer questions, suggest appointments or summarise what you saved. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when it sounds confident. Check anything that matters before you rely on it, especially dates, amounts and names.

WannaHelp is not a substitute for professional advice, and it is not an emergency service. Nothing in the app is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Email forwarding

If you turn on email forwarding, only forward messages you are entitled to share with us. Scam warnings are a best-effort aid, not a guarantee: a message we did not flag may still be fraudulent.

Using the app

You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of WannaHelp or to another person's account, probe, scan or load-test it, interfere with its availability, scrape it by automated means, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it to store or send unlawful, infringing, misleading or abusive material, or to harass anyone. You may not use the app to build a competing service or dataset.

Your conduct

WannaHelp is meant to be a kind and helpful place. These rules apply to everything you store, share or send through the app, including what you share with the people in your circles. You may not use WannaHelp to create, store or share content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene or lewd, pornographic, racist, or otherwise hateful or similarly offensive; to threaten anyone or incite violence against anyone; to harass, bully or intimidate anyone; or to invade anyone's privacy or infringe their intellectual property.

You may not use WannaHelp in any way that is meant to harm, or that does harm, any person, group, organization or company.

Please treat the people you share with, and our support team, with courtesy and respect.

Plans, trials and payment

WannaHelp offers a free tier and paid plans, described on the pricing page at the time you buy. A free trial, where offered, does not require a card; you are asked for payment only if you choose to continue. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Payments are processed by our payment processor under its own terms.

Our app and content

The WannaHelp name, the fish mark, the design, the text and the code of the app belong to Ion Hands LLC and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for as long as you have an account. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the app or substantial parts of it.

Services from other providers

Maps, weather, place names and similar information come from other providers. We link to or show them for convenience; we do not control them and are not responsible for their accuracy or their handling of your data.

New features and early versions

We change WannaHelp often. Features may be added, changed or removed. Some features may be offered as early or test versions, which may be less reliable than the rest of the app.

Availability, as-is

We work to keep WannaHelp available, accurate and safe, but we offer it as-is and as-available. To the fullest extent the law permits, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that nothing you save could ever be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, Ion Hands LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of WannaHelp, whether the claim sounds in contract, tort or any other theory, and even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not permit these limits; where that is so, they apply to the greatest extent allowed, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Ion Hands LLC against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of WannaHelp, content you save or share that you had no right to, or your breach of these terms.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using WannaHelp and delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the service at risk, and where we can we will tell you why first.

If we become aware of conduct that breaks these terms, including the rules under Your conduct, we will make reasonable efforts to suspend or close the account involved and to prevent further use of the app by the person responsible. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no refund is owed for any unused part of a paid plan when an account is closed because its holder broke these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes arising from the app are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in San Francisco, California, except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts.

Changes

We may revise these terms. When a change matters we will ask you to review it in the app before it takes effect, and the version and date at the top of this page will change with it. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.

Cookie Policy

Effective 2026-09-26 · Applies to the WannaHelp app, not to ionhands.com

The short version

The WannaHelp app sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party trackers. The app itself does not set cookies at all. What it keeps on your device is what it needs to keep you signed in, to remember your choices, and to keep working when your connection drops.

What these technologies are

A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep, which your browser attaches to requests automatically. Local storage does much the same with a larger allowance and no automatic transmission. Session storage is the same again, except that it is emptied when you close the tab. All of them are listed here, because what matters to you is what is kept on your device, not which mechanism keeps it.

What the app stores

KindPurpose
Local storage Your sign-in session. Strictly necessary: without it you would be asked for a code on every visit.
Local storage A random identifier for this device, so it can appear in your list of linked devices.
Local storage Your colour theme, text size and language.
Local storage Copies of your own data (calendar, files list, weather, plan) so screens open instantly, plus changes made offline that are waiting to be sent.
Session storage Short-lived screen state for the current visit.
IndexedDB Your files, thumbnails and photos kept on the device so they open quickly and offline. Items shared with you expire from here within 72 hours of the share ending.
IndexedDB Photos and files waiting to upload, including items you shared into WannaHelp from another app, so a dropped connection does not lose them.
Service worker cache The app's own code and styles, so it starts without a connection. Holds none of your data.
Browser push service Only if you switch notifications on: lets us deliver notifications to this device.
Third-party cookie or storage Only on the public support form, to tell a person from an automated script. Strictly necessary for that form to accept a message. Not used inside the app.

None of the entries above is used for advertising or to follow you across other sites. Usage counts are sent to our own servers without a cookie and under a pseudonym, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Requests to other providers. Loading the app's typeface and its map backgrounds means your browser asks those providers for them, as any web page does, and they receive the ordinary technical data a web request carries. The app does not give them anything else.

Your control

Signing out, or signing in as a different person on the same device, removes the copies of your data listed above. Every major browser also lets you view, block and delete cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and site data, per site or entirely; look for Privacy in your browser's settings, or remove the installed app from your home screen. Blocking the sign-in entries means you will be asked for a code on every visit, and blocking the offline stores means the app will not work without a connection. Nothing else about the app changes.

Because the app sets no advertising or tracking cookies, there is no consent banner asking you to accept a tracking network.

Changes

If the app starts storing something new on your device, this table changes before it ships, and the version and date at the top of this page change with it.
